‘Twas two days before Christmas, when all through the home,\u00a0
The grievances mounted, both told and untold,\u00a0
Of slights and of wrongs that had happened all year,\u00a0
The aluminum pole, just naked and bare.
\u00a0
The family was gathered, prepared for a fight,\u00a0
With notebooks of grudges all ready to cite.\u00a0
When out in the kitchen arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my chair to see what was the matter.
\u00a0
Away to the table I flew like a flash,\u00a0
Tore open my notebook and pulled out my stash\u00a0
Of complaints I’d been saving since last winter’s snow,\u00a0
Ready to air them to all down below.
\u00a0
When what to my wondering eyes did appear,\u00a0
But Dad at the head, saying “Festivus is here!\u00a0
The airing of grievances begins with a shout;
I’ve got a lot of problems, and you’ll hear them all out!”
\u00a0
More rapid than rockets his complaints they did come,\u00a0
And he sputtered and shouted and left us all numb.\u00a0
“Your lateness! Your spending! Your thoughtless behavior!\u00a0
No excuses accepted; no ifs, ands or buts here!”
\u00a0
Then after the airing, we gathered around\u00a0
For feats of strength on the cold, cold, hard ground.\u00a0
And I heard Dad exclaim as he pinned Uncle Lou,\u00a0
“Happy Festivus to all! I’m disgusted with you!”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
